Brendan Curry tallied 19 goals and 33 points during his sophomore season.

Inside Lacrosse’s preseason Atlantic Coast Conference rankings this morning placed No. 8 Syracuse fourth, behind No. 1 Virginia, No. 6 Duke and No. 7 Notre Dame. Midfielder Brendan Curry and defender Nick Mellen were named to the publication’s 13-man preseason all-conference team.

Both Curry and Mellen were All-Americans last season along with Brett Kennedy, Peter Dearth and honorable mention Jamie Trimboli. Virginia goalie Alex Rode was picked ahead of 2019 All-ACC goalie Drake Porter this season, and the Cavaliers’ faceoff man Petey LaSalla edged Jakob Phaup, who led the ACC in faceoff percentage last year.

Tucker Dordevic, who’s returning from a foot injury, and Chase Scanlan, a transfer from Loyola who will wear the No. 22 this season, were both left off the preseason all-conference team. Dordevic scored 15 goals in 15 games his freshman season before missing all of the 2019 season. Scanlan recorded 43 goals and 58 points last season playing alongside Tewaaraton Award winner Pat Spencer at Loyola.

Six Orange players were tabbed to the 18-man 2019 All-ACC team. Only Nate Solomon doesn’t return to Syracuse this year.
