AirOrangeX experiences hardware difficulties
If you were experiencing Wi-Fi problems on the Syracuse University campus late last week, you were not alone.
A hardware module failed and caused wireless connections to be slow and sometimes disconnect last Thursday, said Chris Finkle, communications manager for Information Technology Services, in an email.
Finkle said ITS’s network engineers investigated the problem and found and repaired the bad hardware module. The AirOrangeX network was back to full service around 6 p.m. on Thursday, he said.
The ITS Help Desk got less than 25 complaints, Finkle said. He added that as of Friday, the help desk hasn’t received any related contacts since the engineers solved the problem.
Said Finkle: “Problems with the network itself, as we had Thursday, are rare.”
