Syracuse basketball recruiting: 5-star target Kobi Simmons reportedly still has SU on list

Five-star Syracuse target Kobi Simmons still has the Orange on his list of schools, his high school coach told Donna Ditota of The Post-Standard.

The 6-foot-5 point guard is ranked No. 7 in the Class of 2016 by Scout.com and No. 2 at his position. Both Trevor Cooney and Michael Gbinije are expected to graduate after next season, leaving Kaleb Joseph as the only guard with substantial experience on SU’s roster. Frank Howard is the only guard listed by Scout in the Orange’s Class of 2015. Simmons is also being recruited by Kentucky, North Carolina, Arizona and Ohio State, according to the Post-Standard.

Earlier this week, SU lost Class of 2016 guard Tyus Battle to Michigan. SU has also offered four-star point guard Alterique Gilbert in the Class of 2016. That class’ only commit is Matthew Moyer, a four-star power forward ranked No. 61 overall and No. 11 at his position by Scout.
