The fellowship program is part of Invest Syracuse, the university’s $100 million academic fundraising initiative.

Syracuse University’s Graduate School has started a $750,000 fund for doctoral fellowships, the university announced Thursday.

The Fellowship Fund will support about 30 more doctoral students in competitive research areas each year, per an SU News release. The program was created as part of Invest Syracuse, SU’s $100 million academic fundraising initiative.

New fellowships are expected to provide up to two years of funding, with a stipend and tuition credits, per the release. Each school and college will also provide an additional two years of funding through teaching assistant and research assistant positions.

The Graduate School currently awards 10 STEM fellowships per year to help attract doctoral students from underrepresented groups, per the release. The application process for the new fellowship fund will be announced later in the semester.
