The long-awaited and newly-configured Broadway rendition will premiere in Syracuse at the Landmark Theatre.
Disney Theatrical Productions and Famous Artists announced Wednesday that tickets for the critically-acclaimed North American Tour production of Disney’s “The Lion King” will go on sale to the public on Monday, June 5 at 10 a.m. The new production will allow the tour to visit audiences in cities and venues that couldn’t formerly accommodate the show, according to a press release from the Landmark Theatre.
Five weeks will be spent rehearsing and perfecting new technical changes. Performances will run for three weeks, from Thursday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 12, during which some of the cast and crew members will reside in Syracuse, according to the release.
After 20 years, “The Lion King” remains one of the most popular stage musicals in the world. It is the second show to have productions worldwide running for 10 or more years. “The Lion King” is also the winner of six 1998 Tony Awards. The show’s worldwide ticket gross exceeds that of any movie, Broadway show or other entertainment title in box office history, according to the release.
The North American touring productions of “The Lion King” has reached an audience of more than 19 million and has performed in more than 70 cities across the North America.
“The Lion King” is proud to debut its return engagement in Syracuse, according to the release.
Tickets can be purchased only through Landmark Theatre and Ticketmaster outlets.
