Dino Babers

Syracuse football recruits react to Dino Babers hiring

Moe Neal told The Daily Orange on Saturday that he can't wait to meet new Syracuse head coach Dino Babers.

Syracuse’s hiring of Dino Babers as its next football head coach comes about two months before National Signing Day on Feb. 3, 2016. In the Orange’s 2016 recruiting class, 15 members are currently verbally committed (the 2017 class has two verbal commits). When the coaching search began nearly two weeks ago, Director of Athletics Mark Coyle told those players that the new coach would honor their commitments.

Here are reactions from committed and uncommitted recruits on Babers.

Moe Neal, 2016 hybrid commit:

“Just can’t wait to meet (Babers) and get this thing started.”

Sam Heckel, 2016 offensive lineman commit:

“I think it’s a great hire. He knows how to win and (I) can’t wait to see the new staff.”

Taylor Riggins, 2016 linebacker commit:

“I’m pretty excited, he’s a great coach with a great track record and I think he can bring some excitement.”

Cam DeGeorge, 2016 offensive lineman commit:

“I’m pretty excited … Looking forward to meet my new coaches and get to work.”

Isaiah McDuffie, 2017 linebacker commit:

“I think it was a great hire he’s the perfect man for the job.”

Dymelle Parker, 2016 linebacker commit:

“I really don’t know much about him, but he is a winner based on his history.”

Noel Brouse, 2016 offensive lineman commit:

“I’m excited we have a coach. I’m impressed with the win last night in their conference championship. I don’t know much about him but I know he’s a winning coach.”

Rex Culpepper, 2016 quarterback commit (per Scout):

“Awesome! Coach Weiner (Culpepper’s high school coach) has had a great relationship with him in the past and he has had major success offensively.”

Darius Stubbs, 2016 hybrid commit (per Scout):

“I think he is a great fit. Especially offensively and the fact that he is currently a head coach.”

Cycoby Burch, 2016 defensive back target:

“Right now I’m just waiting on a call to see what he has set for me”
