ITS adds channels to improve cable TV package for on campus students

Syracuse University students living on campus now have a few more premium options when they turn on their televisions.

Information Technology Services, previously known as Information Technology and Services, worked with Time Warner Cable over the summer to add more TV stations and music channels, according to an email sent to SU students.

With the channel additions, students now have more than 86 digital HD video and 45 music channels in their cable TV package, according to the email. The package also now has HBO and Showtime, which is a first for the university, and will be at stations No. 58 and No. 59, respectively.

The updated campus TV package also has Aljazeera America at station No. 85 and six additional sports channels, including NFL Network, starting at station No. 86. Music channels begin at station No. 100.

Students do not need to purchase a cable box in order to receive the new stations, according to the email.

In addition to the new stations, SU students, faculty and staff will be able to access their online campus networks while not on a campus network. The service is available through DatAnywhere, which has an app that must be downloaded to access an on-campus storage drive.
