SU-Loyola matchup moved to Syracuse out of an ‘abundance of caution’
Syracuse’s game at Loyola (Maryland) on Saturday has been moved to SU Soccer Stadium and will be played at 1 p.m. because of the riots in the Baltimore area, an SU Athletics spokeswoman confirmed.
A release on Loyola’s website said Greyhounds head coach Jen Adams and Syracuse head coach Gary Gait made the decision out of an “abundance of caution.” Adams is a former player of Gait’s at Maryland.
No. 3 SU (14-6, 3-4 Atlantic Coast) and No. 14 Loyola (14-4, 8-0 Patriot League) were originally slated to play at Loyola’s Ridley Athletic Complex at 1 p.m. The game is SU’s last before NCAA tournament play — the Orange locked up a bid by winning the ACC tournament over the weekend. The tournament kicks off in early May.
Loyola cancelled Senior Day festivities as a result of the move.
