Shots were fired at the Sheraton University and Hotel Conference Center early Saturday morning. Ten casings were recovered said a Syracuse Police Department officer at the scene.

As of 3:40 a.m., no suspects were detained, the officer said. Police vehicles blocked off University Avenue between Walnut Avenue and Marshall Street around 3:15 a.m. Pedestrians were also prohibited from walking on the sidewalk in front of the Sheraton. No witnesses have come forward.

Two crime scene vans, four Department of Public Safety Officials and three Syracuse Police Department vehicles remained at the scene at 4 a.m. Vehicles from the fire department were also initially present.

The Syracuse Police Department will issue a statement sometime tomorrow, said officials at the scene. Officers did not provide further details at press time.
